The food we chose was excellent, and I’ve developed a new love for miso salad dressing. They were also able...to cater for my gluten-free needs, though not within a set menu. Very much more than just a meal, the pace of things left plenty of time for conversation. Read our transparency report to learn February 22, 2022 via mobile I am absolutely blown away by how great of a bang for your buck this place is. The lunch menu set that includes a full bowl of salad, soup, rice, and a choice of two or three meats fills you right up for only around...$20 CAD with tax and tip. By Montreal standards, this is an absolute bargain, especially given how delicious the meal is. The restaurant is also incredibly generous. You can also get a good portion of spring rolls for free by simply checking in on Yelp. After every meal, you can earn points on the Gyu-Kaku app which you can use to redeem free food. With the free points for signing up and frequent double point deals, I could have gotten an extra plate of meat for free after just two solo visits. At one point, thr manager even offered the whole restaurant a shot of margarita on the house! I also received a 10%-off coupon at the end of my meal. Read our transparency report to learn January 16, 2020 I was on a trip to Montreal and was there for three nights, I ate at this restaurant 4 TIMES! Two lunches and two dinners! I'm from NY and the closet location is about an hour away. The staff was a m a z i...n g. Everyone was attentive and kind. My bf and I had never done Japanese BBQ before so our waiter stayed with us for a bit and showed us unique ways to cook each item and little tricks for tasty food! AKA the ponzu on the zucchini before grilling! The prices were very reasonable, especially for the 'happy hour'. We were told upon seating that we could only be given an hour to sit at our table, but we were there for well over the hour - still ordering - and we were never judged or asked to leave lol. I def recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxed atmosphere, good food, and good drinks. My only complaint - if you can even call it that - is that this location does not take reservations. You put your name on a waiting list if you arrive and there are no available tables. For a tourist like myself that was no issue because I casually strolled the streets looking around until they called with an available table. If you're a local though you may find that annoying because you've already seen the streets and shops a thousand times right? Overall an amazing restaurant, I'll be back in Montreal next month and you bet your butt I'll be eating there every night!MoreDate of visit August 2019Helpful?1 This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. PHOTO BY Marikit Singson ...and another with yakiniku grills PHOTO BY Marikit Singson The Japanese concept is actually a combination of two franchises from Japan Shaburi Shabu Shabu and Kintan Buffet. The restaurant, which can accommodate around 100 guests, is divided into two sections—one for each concept—by a central buffet with a wide selection of salads, side dishes, dipping sauces, and condiments to complement your Drop by in the evening, and you can sample their seasonal seafood options like shrimp, squid, and fish. Plus there's free-flowing UCC Coffee, which you can get hot or cold. Pro tip You can even create your own coffee float with the soft-serve ice cream at the buffet. Come hungry, but make sure that you know what you prefer as you can’t cross-order The yakiniku grills are only on one side of the restaurant while the hot-pot stoves are on the other. Plus, there’s a 90-minute time limit 60 minutes for plate set menus for diners. We think that just gives us a reason to come back. First, you have to choose an unlimited course—we recommend you splurge and go for the Special Wagyu Buffet P1,899/lunch, P1,999/dinner as this will get you Wagyu Steak and Wagyu karubi beef short rib as well as shimofuri marbled Kobe beef and nakaochi rib finger that’s served in a tsubo or a special ceramic pot. The set also comes with pork belly, pork shoulder, rosu, and karubi boneless pork short rib sourced from the or Australia. But even their most "basic" course, the Regular Buffet P649/lunch, P749/dinner is more than enough for your meat cravings, with a set that includes chicken steak, pork belly, pork sausage, rosu, and karubi marinated in three sauces teriyaki, double pepper, and garlic butter. But if you’re satisfied with just two plates of beef, you can opt for the Plate Set Menus P419 to P895, which lets you choose two plates from any of their four Pair your yakiniku with different sauces like spicy PHOTO BY Marikit Singson Once cooked, wrap each slice of protein in a lettuce leaf or pair it with Japanese steak rice. You can opt for any of the homemade dipping sauces original, garlic, spicy miso to add another layer of flavor to it, though their barbecue is tasty even without this addition. For the chicken, we suggest that you ask for the cheesy curry sauce. Your barbecue also goes well with steak rice... Take your pick from fresh salads, chicken karaage, fried gyoza, sushi rolls, and carbonara udon, among others. First, select your buffet course—again, if you're looking to splurge, get the Shaburi Wagyu Set P1,599, which has Wagyu beef plus the regular offerings of chicken, beef, and pork. Choose from five signature broths Original Konbu, Sukiyaki, Beef Pepper, Chicken Collagen Paitan, and Hot Miso. It would be best to get the twin pot so you can get a taste of two different soup bases at once. If I craving for grilled meat AUCE, I usually choose between two places Gyukaku vs Kintan Buffet. They both are the most worth AUCE for price compared to the quality, Gyukaku is still better in many aspect. But for me, both restaurant is worth...to try because it is good in different way. Gyukaku has more choices of other menu than meat. Also the side dishes are made by order, so usually come really fresh. Anyway, style of meat is thick, because it's karubi, so meat is still juicy after being grilled. There is also shabu style thin beef, but I prefer the Karubi one. Taste of beef is superb. People usually don't eat AYCE because the beef quality is poor compared to the normal restaurant. But this restaurant is different. It has good quality of meat. Side dishes - You can order either Chicken Karaage or squid, both are good. And my favorite one is actually the dessert - Milk Pudding I usually end up 4 - 5 plate of Milk pudding as dessert since it's really good! In addition, service quite fast even when the place is full. Good management. Regular buffet cost you around 250k after tax. But really worth the
